More Coalition fuckups.
The idea that you can justify (as the head of the security company Close Protection UK) leaving inexperienced workers to sleep under a bridge in the pissing rain as ‘part of the job’, and then ask them to work a further 14 hours unpaid, or working for such a minimal amount that it barely even counts, is beyond me entirely. That kind of treatment is just further proof of the disgust and disregard with which this government views unemployed people in this country, many of whom are actively seeking work. The stigma around receiving benefits has clearly penetrated deep into society – it’s apparent everywhere. Blame the Sun, Bullingdon Club diners, the government (oh wait, they’re the same…); whoever, it’s horrific. People should not be treated like that. This is just another demonstration of the travesty that is workfare.
