Bojo’s latest antics: Blatant abuse of power

As much as I hate always ending up in Trafalgar Square as the inevitable end to any demo, closely preceding the almost undoubtable rallying call of  “CHANDOOOOOOS’, it is disgusting to see that Bo Jo is cracking down on protests in London. Some of the things you can’t do:

5. “Acts within the Square for which written permission is required”: (ie you’re not allowed to…)

– no demonstrations or anything remotely like it – “assembly, display, performance, representation, parade, procession, review or theatrical event”
– no banners
– no notices or signs
– no tents or any other structure for sleeping in
– no structures of any other kind
– no music “play or cause to be played a musical instrument” (!!)
– no announcements using any form of technology to make sound louder
– no throwing of anything at all
– no taking photographs for ANYTHING other than personal (singular individual) use: “take photographs or film or make any other recordings of visual images for the purposes of or in connection with a business, trade, profession or employment or any activity carried on by a person or body of persons, whether corporate or unincorporate”

If this isn’t the description of a police state, then I don’t know what iImages. Freedom of expression is a tenet of this country, and by limiting the abilities of ANYONE to demonstrate in a peaceful, inoffensive way in the centre of London, the City of London is performing an injustice against everyone. The sheer number of demos, celebrations and events that take p

lace there is huge. Of course, they will accept events like Chinese New Year or Canada Day, but this is just another way to suppress dissent. It won’t happen. Just wait for the pan to boil over, Boris. Wait
